Thoughts from an Alaskan Mason

About Masonic Light
When and if a man senses the stirrings in his heart and mind for a deeper understanding of life than that he has theretofore found, he will seek until he finds the truth.
This longing of the heart is the very beginning of his life as a Freemason, is a reason every candidate seeking Masonic light is said to spiritually, “be first prepared in his heart.”
Our ancient brethren gathered on high hills and low vales, covered by the blue canopy of heaven majestically guiding us; Jacob in his wisdom saw the ladder ascending from earth to heaven; the color of the sky, is that of all celestial attributes for which Masons strive.
Which certainly advocates a reverence of steadfast ancient Freemasons for Mary the Mother, and may easily be considered ground for thinking that the early builders also prayed in the name of her special Son.
A simple charge to the fraternity ...
Time to prepare for greatness is more than words, look in every town ands city in America. The tools of measurement are used to impress upon the mind. We believe a mans greatness can be seen by the positive influence and freedoms he has given to society.
Freemasonry offers a sacred brotherhood delivered by the morals and virtues found in nature and natures law.
Delivered for ever and ever from time immorial.
A solid truth helps a brother stand out!
Teach us, we pray thee, the true reverence of thy great, mighty, and omnipotent Name. Inspire us with a firm and steadfast purpose in our virtuous pursuits. Give us grace diligently to search thy word in the book of nature, wherein the duties of our high vocation are inculcated with Divine authority. May the solemnity and importance of the ceremonies of our craft be duly impressed on our minds, having a favorable and steadfast influence within our lives!
The Silent Summons
A member of a certain Lodge, who previously attended meetings regularly, had stopped going. After a few months, the Worshipful Master decided to visit him. It was a chilly evening, and the Worshipful Master found his brother at home alone, sitting before a blazing fire.
Guessing the reason for the Worshipful Master’s visit, the brother welcomed him, led him to a comfortable chair near the fireplace and waited. The Worshipful Master made himself comfortable, but said nothing.
In the grave silence, he contemplated the dance of the flames around the burning logs. After several minutes, the Worshipful Master took the fire tongs, carefully picked up a brightly burning ember and placed it to one side of the hearth, all alone. Then he sat back in his chair, still silent.
His host watched all of this in quiet contemplation. As the one, lone ember’s flame flickered and diminished, there was a momentary glow, and its fire was no more. Soon, it was cold and dead.
Not a word had been spoken since the initial greeting. The Worshipful Master glanced at his watch and chose this time to leave. He slowly stood up, picked up the cold, dead ember, and placed it back in the middle of the fire. Immediately, it began to glow once more, with all the light and warmth of the burning coals around it.
As the Worshipful Master reached the door to leave, his host said, with a tear running down his cheek, “Thank you so much for your fiery summons, my brother. I’ll be back in our Lodge next meeting.”
